Saint Augustine And His impact on the development of contemporary Christian faith

Abstract

This research focuses on the subject of St. Augustine, who was a theologian and philosopher of Berber origin, and he is the bishop of Roman North Africa. His writings influenced the development of Western philosophy and Western Christianity. He is seen as one of the most important church fathers in the Latin Church in the patristic period. His important works include The numerous (City of God), (Christian Doctrine) and (Confessions). According to his contemporaries, Augustine >refounded the old faith in his youth he was drawn to the eclectic Manichaean faith, and later to the Hellenistic philosophy of Neoplatonism. After his conversion to Christianity and baptism in ٣٨٦, Augustine developed his own approach to philosophy and theology, absorbing a variety of styles and viewpoints. Believing that the grace of Christ is indispensable to human freedom, he helped formulate the doctrine of original sin, and made significant contributions to the development of just war theory. The Church, which adhered to the concept of the Trinity as defined by the Council of Nicaea and the Council of Constantinople, is closely linked to Augustine's book on the Trinity.
