AI Usage Policy

AL-Yarmouk Journal (ALYJ) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity, transparency, and ethical publishing. In recognition of the growing use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in research and writing, the journal establishes the following policy regarding their responsible use.

1. Permitted Use of AI Tools

The use of artificial intelligence tools is permitted only as an assisting aid in the preparation of manuscripts, including:

  • Language editing and grammatical correction
  • Improving clarity, readability, and writing style
  • Formatting references and manuscript structure
  • Supporting data analysis or programming tasks, provided they are transparently described

AI tools must not replace the intellectual contribution, critical thinking, or scientific interpretation of the author(s).

2. Prohibited Use of AI Tools

The use of AI tools is strictly prohibited for:

  • Generating entire manuscripts or substantial parts of scientific content without human authorship
  • Fabricating or falsifying data, results, or references
  • Producing scientific conclusions not derived from actual research
  • Plagiarizing or reproducing existing works
  • Concealing the use of AI in manuscript preparation

3. Disclosure Requirements

Authors must clearly disclose any use of artificial intelligence tools in the preparation of their manuscript. This disclosure should include:

  • The name of the AI tool(s) used
  • The specific purpose of use (e.g., language editing, data analysis support)
  • The extent of AI involvement in the manuscript preparation

Such disclosure should be included in a dedicated section of the manuscript or in the acknowledgments section.

4. Author Responsibility

Authors remain fully responsible for:

  • The accuracy and integrity of the research data
  • The validity of analysis and conclusions
  • The originality and ethical compliance of the manuscript
  • Any misuse of AI tools during the research or writing process

The journal bears no responsibility for any unethical or inappropriate use of AI tools by authors.

5. Policy Updates

This policy may be updated periodically to reflect advancements in artificial intelligence technologies and evolving standards in scholarly publishing ethics.
