AL-Yarmouk Journal is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and originality in all published work. Plagiarism in any form is strictly prohibited and is considered a serious ethical violation.

1. Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:

  • Copying text, ideas, data, images, or results from another source without proper citation.
  • Presenting another author’s work as one’s own.
  • Self-plagiarism (reusing substantial parts of one’s previously published work without proper acknowledgment or justification).
  • Paraphrasing another work without appropriate referencing.
  • Manipulation or reuse of figures, tables, or data without permission or citation.

2. Similarity Screening

  • All submitted manuscripts are screened for similarity using plagiarism detection software (e.g., Turnitin).
  • The journal evaluates similarity reports carefully, considering both the percentage and the context of matched content.
  • Acceptable similarity thresholds may vary depending on the type of manuscript, but excessive or inappropriate overlap is not acceptable under any circumstances.

3. Author Responsibilities

Authors must ensure that:

  • The manuscript is entirely original.
  • All sources are properly cited and referenced.
  • Permissions are obtained for any copyrighted material used.
  • Proper acknowledgment is given for all contributions, ideas, and data derived from other works.

4. Editorial Actions for Plagiarism

If plagiarism is detected, the journal will take appropriate action depending on the severity of the case, which may include:

  • Immediate rejection of the manuscript at any stage of review.
  • Request for revision and proper citation (in minor cases, if appropriate).
  • Retraction of a published article if plagiarism is discovered after publication.
  • Notification of the authors’ institutions or funding bodies in serious cases.
  • Temporary or permanent ban on future submissions from the authors involved.

5. Self-Plagiarism

  • Authors must not submit previously published work or substantially similar manuscripts to multiple journals.
  • Reuse of parts of a previous publication must be clearly cited and justified.
  • Redundant or duplicate publication is strictly prohibited.

6. Ethical Compliance

  • The journal follows the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) regarding plagiarism and research misconduct.
  • All cases are handled fairly, confidentially, and in accordance with international publishing standards.

7. Final Decision

The Editor-in-Chief holds the final decision in all plagiarism-related cases, based on the investigation, similarity reports, and ethical guidelines.
