Retractions and Corrections Policy

AL-Yarmouk Journal (ALYJ) is committed to maintaining the integrity, accuracy, and reliability of the scholarly record. The journal follows internationally recognized publishing ethics standards and takes appropriate measures to correct or retract published content when necessary.

Corrections

When errors are identified in a published article that do not invalidate the results or conclusions of the work, the journal may publish a correction notice (Erratum or Corrigendum). Corrections may be issued for errors introduced by the publisher or the authors, including but not limited to:

  • Author names or affiliations
  • Contact information
  • Minor data inaccuracies
  • Typographical or formatting errors
  • Errors in references or citations

All corrections will be linked to the original article and clearly indicate the nature of the changes made.

Retractions

The journal may retract a published article when there is clear evidence that the findings are unreliable due to misconduct or honest error. Grounds for retraction include, but are not limited to:

  • Plagiarism
  • Data fabrication or falsification
  • Duplicate or redundant publication
  • Unethical research practices
  • Serious errors that invalidate the conclusions
  • Copyright infringement
  • Undisclosed conflicts of interest that significantly affect the integrity of the work

Retraction decisions are made by the Editor-in-Chief in consultation with the Editorial Board and, when appropriate, external experts.

Retraction Procedure

  1. Allegations of misconduct or significant errors will be investigated thoroughly and fairly.
  2. Authors will be given an opportunity to respond to concerns raised.
  3. The journal may issue an Expression of Concern while an investigation is ongoing.
  4. If retraction is warranted, a formal retraction notice will be published.
  5. The original article will remain accessible as part of the scholarly record but will be clearly marked as "Retracted."

Expressions of Concern

In cases where an investigation is inconclusive or ongoing, the journal may publish an Expression of Concern to alert readers to potential issues affecting the article.

This policy may be updated periodically to reflect developments in publication ethics and best practices.
