Mobile journalism and its impact on media work in Iraq The city of Baghdad as a model

Abstract

This research focuses on mobile journalism as a relatively recent media phenomenon, which has spread widely in most Arab and for-eign countries in recent times, and Iraq had the largest share of it. Live in a country full of events and news every day like Iraq.
This descriptive research used the field survey method to find an explanation and results for its problem, which revolves around the im-pact of mobile journalism on media work in Iraq. A questionnaire was distributed to 150 Iraqi journalists and non-journalists in the city of Baghdad. The most prominent results were that the largest propor-tion of the research sample believes Mobile journalism made it easi-er for journalists to work, reaching 87%, and 90% believe that mobile journalism is a competition to traditional media, and mobile journal-ism is more important in Iraq than other media, with 54% of the re-search sample, and that the largest proportion of the research sample amounted to 48% believes that mobile journalism has positively af-fected media work in Iraq and motivated other media outlets to fol-low mobile journalism in many topics and events.
The researcher recommended that the traditional media should pay attention to the mobile press because of its lower costs, speed, flexibil-ity and greater spread, and training the old journalists to catch up with the technical development in the new media.
