Psychological dimensions of regret and heartbreak in Arabic poetry before Islam

Abstract
The psychological aspects have received a wide range of attention of poets throughout the ages, as an important aspect of their psychology, and the seriousness of their negative and positive impact on the joints of their lives and experiences, their important issues, and the reflection of their impact on the nature of their literary productions in general.This study attempts to research one of the most important psychological aspects and sincere and dangerous human feelings, namely (regret and heartbreak), as a painful emotional state, as a result of the individual's sense of guilt after committing a wrong act, decision or disgraceful speech, as well as to indicate its importance and impact in shaping their lives and some of their experiences. and how it is expressed as a poetic technique that the poet can employ creatively and effectively.This study aims to monitor the attitudes and experiences in which the owners regret, and to reveal the psychological dimensions associated with this feeling, and the ingenuity of the poets before Islam in the use of various linguistic and artistic techniques in deepening the sense of this feeling and its bitterness. Poets found in regret and heartbreak a source of inspiration and deep expression in revealing the components of their souls, to deliver strong emotional messages to the recipient, to be their poetry painful and influential help to communicate deep messages about life and human pain in general
