Guidelines for Authors

The Yarmok Biological, Chemical, and Environmental Journal (YBCEJ) is a scholarly journal published by the Al-Yarmok University College, Diyala, Iraq. It is a mid-year refereed Scientific Journal published twice a year by Al-Yarmok University College, dealing with life sciences. includes (Environmental Science, Biological Sciences, Chemical Science, and Agricultural Science). Published in the last week of each March and September, it is published in English.

New Submissions

The YBCEJ journal procedures for submissions are entirely online. Authors submit the manuscript as a single file for the refereeing process. The accepted format is as a Word document. Authors will be asked to submit their manuscripts electronically through the Journal website submission system and to the Editorial Office. The YBCEJ Website will be led stepwise through creating and uploading your files.

Preparation of Manuscripts

Manuscripts need to be submitted only in English, written with proper grammar and terminology. Manuscripts should be typed in Times New Roman, 12 pt font, in MS-Word file format, single-spaced, on A4 paper, with (1) space from all sides of the paper, about (2 cm).

There should be no line numbers on the manuscript. Manuscript submission must be made only once, while obtaining only one manuscript ID number. Multiple submissions for the same manuscript may disqualify the manuscript from consideration.

The research must be specialized in the scope of the journal. It should also not have any previous publications in any Scientific Journal or Scientific Conference, nor has it any accepted for publication.

Formatting requirements

All manuscripts must contain the essential elements needed to convey your manuscript, for example, Manuscript Title, Author's Name, Their Affiliation, Their ORCID Number, Corresponding Author Email, Abstract (150-250 words), Keywords (3- 5 words), Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, Acknowledgement, Conflict of Interest, and References. Please ensure all figures and tables are included in the main manuscript file.

References

References need to be formatted in APA style and can be done for this project in the Google Scholar website, but the YBCEJ will only accept manual formatting for MS Word explicitly. For research articles, cite a minimum of 15 to 30 articles. For review articles, 60 to 90 articles.

The references should be documented as follows: In the text, if you are writing it at the beginning of the paragraph, it is necessary to mention the source by mentioning the author’s last name (surname), and then put the year of publication between brackets,

for example: Alaa (2024) mentioned that... At the end of the paragraph, the last name of the author and the year of publication are written between brackets, for example: (Alaa, 2024). If we have more than one reference, we need to place a semi-colon between the two and date of publications arranged by year, for example: (Alaa, 2024; Mohaned, 2025). If we have more than one reference, we need to place a semicolon after one of the authors. The references should be arranged by date (order of publication) (oldest to newest), and if we have more than one reference for the author himself and the same year, we should put a, b, c, for the letter.
