Publication Ethics of Al-Yarmouk Journal

Al-Yarmouk University College holds the responsibility for publishing Al-Yarmouk Journal. The journal aims to provide equal opportunities for all researchers, where scientific papers are accepted based on their intellectual content, regardless of the authors' gender, ideas, ethnic origins, nationalities, or political philosophy. The journal considers commitment to professional publication ethics of utmost importance, which researchers, reviewers, and editors must prioritize.

The following is the journal’s Statement of Scientific Publication Ethics, which includes ethical regulations and systems for the Editor-in-Chief, Editorial Board members, reviewers, and researchers. It complies with the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the requirements of the Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement.

Editor-in-Chief

The Editor-in-Chief, in cooperation with the Editorial Board and external specialists, is responsible for selecting appropriate reviewers based on the research topic and the reviewer's specialization, maintaining strict confidentiality.

Editorial Board Members

The journal has an Editorial Board whose members possess expertise and knowledge in their respective fields. Their names and affiliations are fully published on the journal's website. Their duties include:

Working with the Editor-in-Chief to improve the journal's vision.

Selecting appropriate reviewers for submitted research papers.

Maintaining the confidentiality of the review process and the information provided by reviewers.

Researchers (Authors)

Researchers must ensure the originality of their work and its compliance with high professional and ethical standards. This entails:

The submitted research must maintain high credibility by presenting results without fabrication or falsification of data.

Authors' names must be arranged as they appear in the research, listed sequentially starting with the primary idea-holder, according to the weight of each contribution. The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring all contributing authors are included and no non-contributors are listed.

Researchers must correctly cite all works referenced in the study.

Researchers must revise their work according to reviewers' suggestions. If an author disagrees with a proposed modification, a logical justification must be provided.

The journal does not charge any fees upon receipt of research for review or publication, except after the paper undergoes plagiarism detection (Turnitin) to ensure the similarity rate does not exceed 20%. The researcher is committed to paying the financial costs of the review procedures if they request to withdraw the research, decide not to proceed with the review process, or ignore reviewers' comments without providing a response.

Peer Review and Reviewers

The journal considers the peer-review process by specialists a core stage of scientific publication. The journal's policy ensures the professionalism of reviewers and their adherence to the journal’s ethical laws:

Submitted papers are subjected to peer review by specialists in the field.

If the editorial management finds that the research complies with publication policies and scientific standards, it is sent to three specialized reviewers to evaluate its integrity and scientific originality using a dedicated form.

The journal manages reviewers' names and reports with strict confidentiality, disclosing them only to Editorial Board members, who also treat them as strictly confidential.

Research papers are treated with total confidentiality during the review process and prior to publication.

In the event of a negative report from one reviewer, the original manuscript is sent to a third reviewer to decide on its eligibility for publication.

Reviewers must maintain objectivity in their judgments and findings.

Reviewers are expected to distance themselves from personal interests (conflicts of interest).

Reviewers must ensure the research is free from plagiarism and must point out any published works that have been plagiarized within the text.

Reviewers are expected to adhere to the designated timeframe for the review process.

Plagiarism

The journal considers plagiarism an unethical behavior in the field of research and publication and rejects it entirely. Consequently:

Researchers must submit original, non-extracted work (except for postgraduate students' research extracted from their own theses). They must also adhere to citation, documentation, and publication ethics rules.

All submitted research undergoes plagiarism detection software (Turnitin) to verify similarities between the submitted work and previously published papers.

Accuracy in documentation and correct listing of references and sources is mandatory.

The journal reserves the right to take all necessary measures against those who violate the foundations and rules of scientific research ethics.

Redundant (Duplicate) Publication

Researchers must not submit work that has been previously published in other journals. Similarly, they must not submit their research to more than one journal simultaneously; the journal views this as unacceptable behavior contrary to research and publication ethics.

Researchers may only publish their work in other journals after receiving an official rejection from Al-Yarmouk Journal or if the journal officially approves their request to withdraw the submission.

Publication Ethics

The journal takes practical steps to prevent the publication of research involving misconduct. Under no circumstances does the journal permit such behavior.

Copyright

Copyright is transferred to the journal upon notifying the researcher of the acceptance of their paper for publication.

Archiving

The journal maintains hard copies and an electronic archive of all published issues.
